Sustainable Ignition of High Energy Materials
by Local Heating Sources

Purpose

We develop the main elements of the theory of condensed substances ignition by small-sized particles of several millimeters heated up to high temperatures, more than 700 K. The theory elements include experimental methods, physical and mathematical models, algorithms for the solution of the boundary value problems, and theoretical conclusions. As the condensed substances, we use the liquid, metallized composite solid, jellylike, and dispersed fuels, as well as the polymer materials.

Field of Application

The main field of application is a reliable predicting of characteristics for condensed substances ignition under the local heating. The ignition theory elements are a basis for developing the energy-efficient devices for igniting of fuels. A principle of operation of such devices can be based on, for example, supplying energy by conduction to the condensed substance by using sources with limited heat content. In addition, the theory allows the development of measures for fire prevention of the industrial and social facilities.
